Women's Basketball Alumni Game a Success

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa women's basketball program held their second alumni gathering and game on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018. With 12 alumni participating the game was an exciting one as the teams energetically traded baskets and leads in the first half.

Close at halftime it was Mesa's young team who turned up the tempo in the second half, scoring quickly in transition and outpacing their older counterparts, who certainly have not forgotten how to compete or work hard, making the game quite challenging for the younger Thunderbirds.

Robin Schamber, former MCC women's basketball coach, came out of retirement again and with assistant coach Brady Stephenson coached the alumni team. After a valiant effort the conditioning of Mesa's team took over and victory was declared after 40 minutes and a score of 74-51, favoring MCC's 2018-19 women's basketball team.
