Goodman's Career High 27 Points Leads #6 Mesa to Victory Over Phoenix College, 77-70

Mesa, AZ - The #6 Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the Phoenix College Bears Tuesday night, 77-70, in the regular season finale.

It wasn't the most comfortable victory for Mesa but a victory non-the-less.  The T-Birds will now enter the Region I - ACCAC DII Tournament as the #1 seed and will play.....you guessed it, the Phoenix College Bears.  

But what a performance by Leah Goodman, scoring a career-high 27 points, connecting on 9-17 shots and hitting five three-pointers.  She also made four of five from the charity stripe.  Diamond Fuller pulled in a double-double, with 10 points and 13 rebounds while Takara Wade finished with 11 points and Deja Dagons finished with 10 points.

Mesa finishes the regular season with a 24-6 overall record and a 19-3 conference record.  This was also the first time that during Coach Kori Stephenson's tenure as coach that her team has swept all the DII opponents.

Tournament play with begin Tuesday, March 6th, with #1 Mesa hosting the #4 Phoenix College Bears.  The Championship game will be played on Saturday, March 10th, at the highest seed.
