Takara Wade Just Two Assists Shy of Triple-Double in #14 Mesa's Win Over Glendale, 66-55

Mesa, AZ - It was quite the performance for Mesa sophomore point guard Takara Wade as she was just two assists shy of earning a triple-double Saturday afternoon that helped the T-Birds defeat the Glendale Gauchos, 66-55.

Wade finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.  The 14 rebounds tied Wade's career high while also tying her career high in assists with eight.

Also having a solid performance for the T-Birds was power forward Anessa Glenn.  Glenn also finished with a double-double, with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  For Glenn, she set a new personal best in rebounds for a game, as she previously had two games with 12 rebounds.

Mesa dominated the points in the paint as they outscored the Gauchos 32-14.  The T-Birds on the afternoon shot 36.8 percent (25-68) while connecting on four three-pointers.

Other double-point scorers for the T-Birds were Leah Goodman and Deja Dagons, each tallying 10 points.

Mesa is now 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the ACCAC.  The T-Birds will be on the road the next two games, first on Wednesday night at Arizona Western then next Saturday night down at Tohono O'odham, both 5:30 pm tip offs.
