Tucson, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team finished off a nice three day stretch of games by defeating the Bismark State College Mystics, 92-50, down in Tucson at the Bruce Fleck Classic.
In the three games total this week, all against Division I opponents, Mesa finished with a 2-1 record while averaging 76 points over that three game period.
Against Bismark, the T-Birds jumped out quick in the first quarter, getting three pointers from Leah Goodman and Deja Dagons to take a 10-4 lead. Mesa just kept extending its lead throughout the first half, scoring 29 points alone in the second quarter to take a 52-26 advantage at halftime.
It was the same story throughout the second half as Mesa used solid offensive attacks to score 92 points, their highest point total of the season.
Mesa will begin conference play now with a 10-3 overall record and a 5-0 conference record. The T-Birds will host Central Arizona College next wednesday at 5:30 pm then will be on the road in Thatcher to play the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters on Saturday for another 5:30 pm start.
