Mesa, AZ - The Mesa women's basketball team had little trouble defeating the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes Saturday afternoon, 69-23, at Theo Heap Gym.
The T-Birds went up 14-3 at the end of the first quarter on the winless Coyotes, with Mesa pushing that lead to 39-8 by halftime.
Quynne Huggins led all scorers with 19 points with Sham Troupe dropping 14 points herself. Mesa shot 37 percent from the field (26-70) while scoring 36 points in the paint.
Deja Dagons scored seven points off the bench for Mesa, also collecting four steals, four rebounds and an assist. Bianca Casares finished with eight points and two rebounds while Takara Wade finished with six points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The T-Birds move to 8-0 on the season, 3-0 in the conference. They will be back at home on Thursday when they host Arizona Western at 5:30 p.m.
