Women's Basketball Sign First Two Players for the 2016-17 Season

Mesa's women's basketball have signed its first two players for the 2016-17 season.  The first player is Regina Dela Cruz, who played a majority of her high school basketball at Desert Vista High School but moved to Hawaii for a short time.

Head Coach Kori Stephenson said about Dela Cruz, "She brings a lot of energy and excitement in a little package and we are excited to welcome her to the Thunderbird family!"  Dela Cruz is excited about the oppurtunity of joining the T-Bird family, "I'm very excited to be attending MCC, the coaches seem great, as does the upcoming team and school itself. It's nothing like being in Hawaii but I'm coming back to my stomping grounds and will be sure to make these couple years at MCC one for the books!"

Tiyana Josey, a guard out of Basha High School, is the second player to be signed by the lady T-Birds.  Josey played in 45 varsity games for the Bears, where she averaged nine points a game, 2.9 assists a game with 4.7 rebounds a game.

The T-Birds are coming off a 16-16 season where they made it to the ACCAC DII Championship game against the Pima Aztecs.
