Coolidge, AZ- Things started well for the Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team but the Vaquera's of Central Arizona were too much to handle as they defeated the T-Birds, 80-58.
Mesa played well in the first quarter, being led by Sham Troupe who scored 8 points, along with Allies Fuller, who scored six points in the quarter.
The T-Birds led after the first quarter, 22-21. But a 27 point Vaquera second quarter set the stage for the rest of the game, as Mesa just could not keep up with the much quicker and deeper Central.
Mesa moves to 12-15 on the season, 9-10 in the ACCAC DII standings.
Mesa will be home Wednesday for their final home game of the season against the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes, tip off at 5:30 p.m.
