Three double-doubles highlight women's basketball win at South Mountain, 78-41

  PHOENIX, AZ - Three players recorded double-doubles and another scored 24 points as the Mesa women's basketball team raced to a 78-41 win at South Mountain Saturday afternoon.

  The T-Birds (12-13, 9-8) started slowly, holding only an 11-9 lead after one quarter and were only up 32-24 at halftime. But, a 17-4 third quarter broke the game open and MCC outscored the Cougars (0-20, 0-16) 46-17 over the final 20 minutes.

  Natalie Stilwell (So., Fountain Hills, AZ/Fountain Hills H.S.) had 14 points and ten rebounds, and was a perfect 7-7 from the floor, Brianna Clah (So., Chinle, AZ/Many Farms H.S.) added 11 points and ten rebounds and Allies Fuller (Fr., Buckeye, AZ/Buckeye Union H.S.) contributed 12 points and ten rebounds to account for MCC's triple-doubles.

  Janessa Aukward (So., Laveen, AZ/Sierra Linda H.S.) scored 24 points, hitting seven of 12 three-pointers, to lead an outstanding Mesa shooting game which saw the T-Birds shoot a fabulous .650 (26-40) from the floor and connect on ten of 18 threes.

  MCC returns home Wednesday to host Pima in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
