Mesa, AZ- In a very high intensity, must win game for both teams, it was the Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team that came out on top of the Scottsdale Artichokes, 58-47
Mesa wanted to prove that they weren't the same team Scottsdale witnessed earlier in the season when the T-Birds committed 43 turnovers in a loss at Scottsdale's gym.
For the T-Birds, it was a strong third quarter that seperated themselves from the Artichokes, Mesa only allowing Scottsdale to score six points compared to 12 for the T-Birds.
Mesa had career nights from two of their post players, Allies Fuller and Destinee Wright, who both scored 11 points and both came down with four rebounds.
On the night, the T-Birds shot 43 percent from the field, shooting 13-19 from the free throw line. Mesa dominated on the boards as they outrebounded the Artichokes 37-25.
With the win, Mesa moves 7-6 in the ACCAC and 10-11 overall. With this huge victory, Mesa moves back into the number two position in the ACCAC DII rankings just behind Pima.
The T-Birds will be on the road next week, down in Yuma against Arizona Western on Wednesday then in Phoenix on Saturday.
