Women's basketball slips to No. 6 in NJCAA poll

  COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Playing a rugged early-season schedule, the Mesa women's basketball team has seen its pre-season No. 1 ranking slip to No. 6 in the first weekly NJCAA Division II national poll.

  The 4-2 T-Birds have lost to two Division I teams, Salt Lake and Arizona Western, abd beaten another, Cochise. Salt Lake is ranked No. 12 in Division I.

  All of the five teams ranked above MCC have one or fewer losses, all also to Division I schools.

  MCC goes back into action tonight at Phoenix at 5:30 p.m.
