Women's basketball adds Gilbert-Highland's Rudd

  MESA, AZ - The Mesa women's basketball team has added another recruit for 20140-15, 5-11 Rebecca Rudd, of nearby Gilbert-Highland H.S.

  Rudd is transferring from Concordia (Calif) where she red-shirted last season. She will join a Mesa team that went 28-5 last year and won the NJCAA Division II national championship.

  Two years ago she played for powerful Gilbert-Highland which finished 32-3 and reached the state semi-finals.

  She averaged 8.1 points per game as a senior, including making 50 three-pointers at a better than 38 percent clip.

  Rudd's brother, Alex, played for Mesa on the 2010 team that won the Region I championship. He later played at Concordia which won the NAIA championship in 2012.

  The T-Birds will open the 2014-15 season Nov. 7 with a home game against Salt Lake at 5:30 p.m.
