NABI Basketball Tournament

MESA, AZ - Mesa will be one of the hosts for the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) Tournament, the largest basketball tournament featuring native and indigenous high school youth, in Theo Heap Gym from July 1-5.

A total of 128 boys and girls teams from across the nation as well as Canada and even two teams from New Zealand, with games beginning Wednesday, July 2 at nine locations around the Valley.

The tournament will feature a College and Career Fair, "Team Meet & Greet" pool party and Educational Seminars. The tournament will conclude with the Gold Division Championship games at US Airways Center, home of the Phoenix Suns & Phoenix Mercury.

Gold Division championship games will be held at USA Airways Arena on July 5 with free admission. Tickets for earlier rounds are $10 per day or a $20 pass for the entire tournament.

According to the NABI Foundation,  "Native American athletes are among the most talented athletes in the world, with a passion for the game of basketball that goes back many generations, but with some reservations being desolate and isolated, our youth are not presented the same opportunities to shine and use their talent to secure college athletic scholarships."
