Johnson, Stellmach double up in NJCAA qualifying

  Mesa, AZ – Tristan Stellmach and Quinn Johnson both did double duty for the Mesa track and field teams, producing NJCAA qualifying marks in events at two locations over the weekend.

  Stellmach ran the 5000 meters in 15:44.54 at the Cody McBride Invitational at Paradise Valley and also produced an NJCAA mark in the 1500 meters at the Arizona State University Invitational with a 4:00.61 clocking.

  Meanwhile, Johnson picked up a national qualifying mark at ASU in the 1500 at 4:49.90 and then added another at Paradise Valley with an 18:01.81 time in the 5000 meters.

  Back at PVCC, Maggie Orr added her name to the NJCAA list in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:20.01.

  On the men's side there were two first time qualifiers. Flyn Fuhrman did it in the 10,000 at 32:51.53 and Noah Lovato in the pole vault with a leap of 14-7 ¼.

  Mesa also hosted a multi-event competition over the weekend. Reese Young posted a score of 4179 winning the shot put and javelin events for the MCC women.

  The T-Birds will next be in action Friday, hosting the ACCAC Championships at John D. Riggs Stadium.
