Women tied for 10th, men 21st after day 1 at NJCAA indoors

  Pittsburg, Kan. – The Mesa women were tied for tenth place with eight points and the men 21st with three points after the first day of competition at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

  The women's distance medley relay team of Maggie Orr, Camille Foster, Alexandra Louis and Quin Johnson placed fifth with a time of 12:25.35.

  Meanwhile, Reese Young placed fifth in the Pentathlon scoring 3083 points including winning the shot put.

  The MCC men's points came from Makel Hubbard in the high jump where he placed sixth at 6-8 ¾.

  In addition, Marcus Naisant was leading the Hepathlon competition after the first four events. He had 3098 points for a 199-point lead over Jonathan Play of Central Arizona. Naisant won both the 60 meters and long jump.

  The championships conclude Saturday.
