Scott wins women's hammer throw national title at first day of NJCAA championships
Hutchinson, Kan. – Onnika Scott put on the performance of her career and won the hammer throw national championship on the first day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Track and Field Championships.
Scott unleashed a toss of 171-3 to win the event by nearly four feet.
Meanwhile, Clay Campbell placed second in the men's hammer at 187-6 and Cameron Lewis was eighth at 167-5.
Catherine Bryant was in 14th place after the first four events of the women's heptathlon with 2397 points.
The national championships continue Friday and Saturday.
