Track and field sending 21 to indoor nationals

MESA, AZ – The Mesa track and field team will take 21 athletes to the NJCAA Indoor National Championships Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.

All have met the NJCAA qualifying standard, including several near the top of the national rankings.

Leonard Bellgardt (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) and Austin McCrum (So., Carson, Wash/Stevenson H.S.) are both second in the pole vault with leaps of 15-9 (4.80 meters).

The women's distance medley relay likewise is ranked second with a time of 12:49.10.

D'Angelo Foster (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Higley H.S.) is third in the heptathlon with 4665 points.

Dana Brady (So., Bradenton, Fla/Saguaro (AZ) H.S.) is sixth in the women's pole vault at 10-6 (3.20 meters) and Beatriz Martinez (So., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) is seventh in the 1,000 meters in 3:02.76.
