Mesa Results in NJCAA Track and Field Championships
MESA, AZ - Scoring for Mesa athletes in the NJCAA Track and Field Championships got underway when Matt Garcia (Fr., Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope H.S.) placed third in the hammer with a toss 182-1.
The MCC 4x800 relay team of Karlie Kjerstad (Fr. Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.), Renee Snoek, Vicky Taverna (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Seton Catholic H.S.) and Emily Wilkinson (So., Tucson, AZ/Ironwood Ridge H.S.) placed seventh in 9:47.48.
The men's 4x800 relay of Steven Gonzalez (So. Tempe, AZ/McClintock H.S.),, Drake Ridge (So., Chandler, AZ/Corona del Sol H.S.), Chris Lessard (Fr., Maricopa, AZ/Maricopa H.S.) and David Figueroa (Fr., Nogales, AZ/Nogales H.S.) finished eighth in 7:52.76.
Kadie McNamara (So., Mesa, AZ/Desert Vista H.S.) was sixth in the hammer at 156-6. Jessica Schmitt (So., Long Islland, NY/Dobson (AZ) H.S.) tied for eighth in the event at 145-6.
