Mesa Softball Splits at Central AZ, 6-3, 3-4

Coolidge, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team split a double-header with the Central Arizona Vaquera's Saturday afternoon down in Coolidge, AZ.  The T-Birds won game one, 6-3, but fell in game two, 4-3.

The T-Birds saw themselves down in the top of the seventh inning of game one, 3-2, but four straight hits to begin the inning helped Mesa push across three runs in the inning.  Jadin Placencio threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and three runs.

In game two, the T-Birds again used the top of the seventh inning to make things interesting, this time it was Brittany Walkingstick who hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three.  The Vaquera's would get the final say though in the end as they scored in the bottom of the seventh to win, 4-3.

Mesa sits currently at 12-12 overall on the season.  The T-Birds will host the Pima Aztecs on Tuesday at MCC, beginning at 1 pm.
