#10 Mesa T-Birds Sweep Glendale, 5-3, 8-4

Mesa, AZ - The #10 Mesa Thunderbirds softball team recorded its fourth sweep of the season as the defeated the Glendale Gauchos, 5-3, 8-4, Saturday afternoon at Mesa.

The T-Birds scored its first two runs in the fourth inning of game one by way of a Bailee Snyder double that scored two.  Mesa then scored three more in the sixth inning, with the big hit coming from Lindsey Paboucek who doubled home two runs.

Sammy Quezada recorded the win in the circle, throwing seven innings, allowing five hits, 3 earned runs and striking out four.

It was a big four run fifth inning in game two that propelled Mesa ahead of the Gauchos.  Amber Saiz tripled to lead off the inning with Saiz later scoring on a double by Ryann Holmes.  Holmes then scored on a Quezada double with Quezada scoring on a Bailee Snyder single.

Overall, Mesa had 12 hits in game two.  In the circle, Gaby Lopez pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, four runs, two earned with four strikeouts.

Mesa is now 14-12 overall and 10-12 in the ACCAC.  The T-Birds will be on the road on Tuesday when they travel to Central Arizona College for a double-header at 1 pm, then will play Scottsdale on Saturday afternoon at noon.
