Mesa Gets One of Two From Centralia

Mesa, AZ- The T-Birds split a double-header Thursday afternoon with the Centralia TrailBlazers, a junior college from Centralia, WA.  The TrailBlazers took game one, 4-2, with the T-Birds taking game two, 9-5.

Mesa took control of game two in the bottom half of the first inning when they pushed across five runs, even though the TrailBlazers put up a four spot in the top half of the inning.

The top five batters in the lineup scored for Mesa, with Leighann Ballersteros and Korynn Molina each getting singles while Valeria Macias, Lexi Valencia and Natashia Marcado each reach by way of the walk.

The T-Birds added another run in the bottom of the second when Molina singled to center field, scoring Macias, who had doubled to lead off the inning.

Mesa added three more runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to finalize the 9-5 victory.

The T-Birds will have a day off Friday then back at Saturday with a double-header against Eastern Arizona College, first pitch at noon.
