The key to Mesa Community College’s athletic success hasn’t just come straight from the field or the hardwood in the past couple years, it comes from the commitment that T-Bird coaches and players have to make the school better as whole.

The T-Bird softball team joined forces with the good people from “Feed My Starving Children” to pack boxes filled with non-perishable food items to send to countries across the world.

“it was a great experience,” said Sophomore Meggan Horn, “the people were all really encouraging and enthusiastic about the help we were giving.”

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) main vision is to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in people to hear and respond to the cries of those in need.  FMSC sends food and money donations to more than 55 countries throughout the world.

Head Coach Grady Moorhead made the connection with FMSC through a church activity and Coach Moorhead is excited to continue his teams partnership with the organization because FMSC plans to move its main operation headquarters close to Fiesta Mall in the near future.

One of the main points of interests that Athletic Director John Mulhern has focused on with the teams is to not only have success in games but to also spend as much energy, focus and dedication to  success in the classroom and the community.

Mesa has been recognized national for its efforts in the classroom and in the community.

“Getting to do something like that with my team was a great experience to have together,” said Horn.
