Softball's Whelan named to all-conference, regional teams
MESA, AZ - Softball standout Kendra Whelan (So., Flagstaff, AZ/Coconino H.S.) has earned the first Mesa post-season honors in two years.
The T-Bird shortstop was named second team infielder on the all-ACCAC team, which encompasses both Division I and II, as well as all-Region I, Division II.
She hit .388 for the year to lead MCC which put together a much-improved season over last year.
In addition, she had 12 doubles, two triples and two home runs and added 25 RBIs. She also led Mesa with 37 runs scored.
She completed an outstanding career which saw her hit .338 last year with ten doubles, three homers and 29 runs driven in.
Whelan will be joining the brand new Benedictine University softball team which will debut next spring in Mesa.
