Men's cross country 12th; women 15th in first NJCAA national rankings

Charlotte, N.C. – The Mesa men's cross country team is ranked 12th in the nation and the women 15th in the first NJCAA Division I rankings of the year.

  The two teams have competed primarily against four-year, NCAA Division I opponents in their first two competitions. They have run in the University of New Mexico Lobo Invitational and the University of Arizona Dave Murray Invitational.

  In the early going the men have been paced by the duo of Flynn Fuhrmann and Andrew McCumber, who placed among the top runners at both meets. The women have been led by Ellis Collins who also has finished near the top both times.

  The teams have this weekend off. They return to action with two consecutive home meets. On Sept. 28 they will host the ACCAC Championships beginning at 8 a.m. Then, on Oct. 5 they will entertain the Mesa Classic which starts at 8:30.
