Men's TF Splits Time at NAU and CAC Meets

The Mesa Thunderbirds men's track & field team split time at both the NAU Ron Mann Classic and the CAC Indoor & Multi on Friday and Saturday.

At the Ron Mann Classic, three athletes hit indoor national qualifying marks. All times in the running events were adjusted for an altitude conversion as the meet was held at 6,877 ft. elevation.

Ousman Jagne was able to hit the exact qualifying standard in the 60m dash after running 6.81 seconds (6.85 after conversion).

Yotuel Garcia ran 4:25.91 in the mile and his converted time of 4:16.25 was able to get him under the qualifying standard of 4:20.08.

Jeremiah Reed was also able to qualify, as he jumped a distance of 7.10m in the long jump.

At the CAC Indoor & Multi, three athletes hit qualifying marks in a new event while another improved their time in an event they already qualified in.

In the mile, Ernest Green ran a personal-best time of 4:17.87. In the 1000m, both Hayden Gelder (2:31.83 PB) and E. Green (2:32.16) hit qualifying marks.

Garcia (1:55.66) hit a qualifying time in the 800m while Samuel Green (1:55.44) improved his season-best mark.

Theodore Gosselin competed in the heptathlon and scored 4,365 points. There is no qualifying standard for this event as only the top-16 marks, regardless of score, will advance to indoor nationals. Gosselin currently ranks seventh in this event as of Sunday, Feb. 5th.

The T-Birds will compete at the Gaucho Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 11th, in Glendale.
