No, 5 men's tennis falls to NCAA DI Northern Arizona, 7-0, in regional tune-up

  Flagstaff, AZ – The No. 5 Mesa men's tennis team prepped for its defense of the Region I championship by taking on a tough opponent, NCAA Division I Northern Arizona Saturday. The T-Birds fell, 7-0.

  MCC Has won the last five straight regional crowns and in the process won 34 consecutive ACCAC matches.

  Mesa finished the regular season with an 8-4 record, losing only to three NCAA DI opponents and one of the top-ranked teams in California. NAU is 17-6 on the year.

  MCC was competitive in almost every match. No. 1 Kyryll Kryuchun, for instance, lost in three to senior Tim Handel, 6-1, 6-7(4), 7-10. In addition, Maxim Kirsch dropped a 4-6, 3-6 decision at No. 3 to Facundo Tomasa, 4-6, 3-6.

  The T-Birds will defend their regional crown April 16-17 at the Paseo Tennis Center in Glendale, AZ.
