Two doubles, two singles, reach semis for men's tennis at NJCAA nationals

  Plano, Texas – Two Mesa doubles teams and two singles players will head into Wednesday's semi-final rounds at the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis National Championship.

  Team scores have not been updated since day one.

  Mesa had two of its four singles players that won in the first round emerge victorious again.

  Gergo Rendek, playing at No. 2, defeated Martin Zarate, of Wallace State, 6-1, 6-1 and Lucas Severo got stronger as the match progressed and eliminated fourth-seeded Vitor Paulino, of ABAC, 6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-0.

  Falling in singles play were Yohann Prinsen, at No. 3, who lost 1-6, 2-6 to Timothee Lemare, the No. 3 seed from Seward County and Jeff Martin who fell to Diego Orduz, of Seminole St., the No. 5 seed, 4-6, 0-6.

In doubles, MCC's No. 1 team of Rendek and Martin won over Saechan Lee and Kai Tougas, of Narion, 6-2, 6-2.

  The T-Birds' No. 2 team of Yohann Prinsen and Jorge Sala was beaten by fourth-seeded Andres Cabezas and Kentero Misushima, of ASA-Miami, 1-6, 2-6.

  At No. 3 Erik Dallman and Severo topped sixth-seeded Vitor Paulino and Juan Pino Cotoleon, of ABAC, 6-4, 6-4.
