Injuries don't slow No. 7 men's tennis in 7-2 win over Pima

Mesa, AZ – Despite having to default two matches due to injury, the seventh-ranked Mesa men's tennis team scored a 7-2 ACCAC victory over Pima Wednesday to run its record to 9-3 and 5-0 in conference play. The win was MCC's seventh straight.

"The men did great today. Our #1 doubles was fantastic, noted head coach Adam Cohen. "They beat a really tough Pima #1 team 8-2. We defaulted two matches due to an injury."

Fourteenth-ranked David Felix posted a strong, 6-0, 6-2, win at No. 1 singles over Mac Avalos. At No. 2 singles, Linus Holthey, ranked No. 32, won over Francisco Ton, 6-0, 6-1. Eduardo Cuoto scored a 6-0, 6-0, win over Jesus Lopez at No. 5.

Noel Maurin and Holthey teamed for the No. 1 doubles victory Cohen mention over Avalos and Ton.

MCC will begin a tough three-match trip to California Thursday taking on Cypress College.
