No. 7 Men's tennis wins battle of ranked teams with 7-2 victory over New Mexico Military
Mesa, AZ – In a battle of two top-ranked teams, the Mesa men, ranked No. 7, defeated 14th-ranked New Mexico Military, 7-2, Saturday.
NMMI was able to field only four players, and according to Mesa head coach Adam Cohen, "NMMI had a very strong team, especially for only having four guys. Our guys fought hard and got some tough wins. If NMMI had a full lineup they would surely be a top five team in the Nation."
MCC got wins from Eduardo Cuoto at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 victory over Marcel Abegne and Kim Donghyun at No. 4 in a 7-5, 6-1 win over Atteh Gabriel.
The T-Birds also won the No. 1 doubles match as Noel Maurin and Linus Holthey teamed to top Kukutla Motloja and Noureldin Adam, 9-7, and the No. 2 with Matt Fisher and David Felix combining to defeat Abegne and Gabriel, also 9-7.
The T-Birds will now take a break until March 23 when they will host Glendale at 1:30 p.m.
