Men's Tennis National Tournament DAY 1 Results
PLANO, Texas – Receiving byes in six of the nine flights, the Mesa men's tennis team got off to a good start at the NJCAA Division I National Championship winning two of the three contested matches. The event is being played at Collin College.
MCC's Sacha Modica (Fr., London, England) won his first match at No. 1 singles, a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jimmy Merah, of ASA-NY.
The No. 2 doubles team of David Felix (Fr., Saarbrueken, Germany) and Shimon Murakami (Fr., Sapporo, Japan) defeated Pablo Safont Ferrer and Bradley Schug, of Harford, 6-3, 7-6 (10).
Matt Fisher (Fr., Fountain Hills, AZ/Fountain Hills H.S.) lost his opening match at No. 5 singles to Oscar Ferrero, of Jacksonville, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6.
The tournament resumes Tuesday morning.
