Men's tennis completes perfect conference season without losing a set after 9-0 win at Glendale

  GLENDALE, AZ - Not only did the ninth-ranked Mesa men's tennis team sweep through the ACCAC season unbeaten, but it did so without losing so much as a single set after a 9-0 win at number 22 Glenadle Tuesday.

  The T-Birds completed their regular season with a 13-3 record and are unbeaten against two-year competition. MCC's only losses have come against NCAA Division I Idaho State and NCAA Division II Western New Mexico and Point Loma Nazarene. The Thunderbirds also defeated Division I Portand State, Division II Colorado State-Pueblo and NAIA Hasings. All are four-year schools.

  Tuesday MCC lost only six total games out of 78 played in breezing to the win.

  Vitali Kotelianets (Fr., Ukraine) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 over Jesus Chino and Andy Nguyen (So., Bien Hoa, Vietnam/Hamilton (AZ) H.S.) also took a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 against Yeovanny Lavega.

  Mesa will begin Region I play Monday, April 27 at Glendale.
