Two more shutouts for Mesa men's tennis

  MESA, AZ - Add two more shutouts to the list for the Mesa men's tennis team as the T-Birds blanked Skagit Valley (Calif.) and Pima.

  That brings to eight the number of shutout victories for MCC which is 11-3. Mesa has not lost to a two-year school and has not surrendered so much as a set to an ACCAC rival.

  Against Skagit Valley, Nick Silvestri (Fr., Scottsdale, AZ/Notre Dame Prep H.S.) and Vitalli Kotelianets (Ukraine) each won 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively.

  Kotelianets then did the same at No. 4 singles in the Pima match as did Harry Busby (So., England) at No. 1 and Max Wightman (Fr., Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain H.S.) at No. 2.

  Busby and Wightman also teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles as did Kotelianets and Kevin McMahon (So., Tempe, AZ/Corona del Sol H.S.) at No. 3.

  MCC hosts NAIA Hastings (Neb.) Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
