Mesa Men's Soccer Gets Tripped Up by Yavapai in 2-1 Defeat

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds men's soccer team played a tough match but just couldn't get past the Yavapai Roughriders Thursday afternoon at John D. Riggs Stadium.  The T-Birds lost, 2-1, in a very tough, physical contest by both squads.

The Roughriders dropped the first two goals of the match in the first half and it wasn't until the 58 minute mark that Mesa's Alec Carroll went to the top left corner of the net, with an assist credited to Briant Sanchez, to make it a 2-1 contest.  Though Mesa had oppurtunities to tie the match, it was the Roughriders who prevailed in the end.

The T-Birds are now 2-2-1 on the season.  They will play at Chandler-Gilbert this coming Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm.
