Mesa's Manuel Lopez Bicycle Kicks Game Winner Over Scottsdale, 2-1

Mesa, AZ- For 86 minutes, neither Mesa or Scottsdale could manage a goal.  But within the last four minutes, both teams combined for three goals, two of those goals coming off the foot of Mesa's Manuel Lopez.

Even more dramatic than that, Lopez bicycle kicked the second and deciding goal with nine seconds remaining in the match, to give the T-Birds the 2-1 victory.

Both teams played physically thoughout the whole match but neither team could manage a strong attack to the net.  

There were 21 total fouls committed between the squads with five yellow cards handed out.

It was exactly at the 86 minute mark that Mesa finally break through on the scoreboard with a goal from Manuel Lopez, being assisted by Obedd Fuentes.

Just 40 seconds later, the Artichokes netted their only goal of the match, tieing it back up at 1 with 2:50 remaining.  

The T-Birds were able to manage a corner kick with a under a minute.  The ball was kicked into Austin Rios who worked the ball inside the box.  With bodies going everywhere and legs flying, it was again Lopez who managed to get it far enough pass the goal line to give Mesa their second win of the season.

Lopez now has five goals in the two matches Mesa has played.  The T-Birds are 2-0 and look to continue their winning ways on Saturday when the PC Bears come to John D. Riggs Stadium for a 4:30 matchup.
