Men-  The Mesa men's soccer team visited the #13 national rank Phoenix College Thursday night and gave the Bears a run for their money.  The T-Birds battled the Bears into two overtimes with the match ending in a 1-1 tie.

Phoenix started off the scoring early, knocking in the first goal within the first minute of the game.  PC continued to attack the Mesa defense but Austin Wagner tightened the hatches at goal and kept the Bears from scoring the rest of the night.

Mesa eventually scored the lone goal in the 35th minute of the first half when Obedd Fuentes kicked it in, with the assist coming from Benjamin Delgadillo.  For Fuentes, the goal tonight makes his fourth goal of the week, the first goal coming last Friday against Gateway and then he scored two goals Tuesday against Scottsdale.

Mesa and Phoenix battled all the way into both overtimes, with both teams having penalty shot oppurtunities but neither team was able to convert.

The T-Birds are now 8-7-1, their first tie of the season.  Mesa will be back home next Tuesday against Glendale.

The T-Birds fell behind 3-0 before Amanda Hoyt knocked in the Mesa lone goal.

Phoenix scored only one goal in the first half, giving hope to the T-Birds in the second half to make a come back,  But within the first 20 minutes in the second half, the Bears scored two more goals, eliminating any momentum Mesa had to make a comeback.

Mesa falls to 5-10-1 on the season. The T-Birds will be at home next Tuesday against Glendale.
