Mesa, AZ- Scoring within a two minute span was just what the Mesa men's soccer team needed to defeat the Gateway Geckos Tuesday night, 2-0.

Brian Perea scored the first goal for Mesa at the 6:16 mark into the game and 2:11 later Andres Elizalde(Fr., San Luis, AZ, San Luis H.S.) put one in, hitting the bottom left post and ricocheting in. 

Mesa then used solid defense to keep the Geckos at bay.  This is the second shutout of the season for the T-Birds, defeating South Mountain 2-0 on opening day.

Mesa moves to 2-1 on the seaosn.  They will be at Scottsdale on Saturday, opening kick at 2:30 p.m.
