Mesa, AZ- It was too little, too late for the Mesa men's soccer team, as they dropped their home opener to Arizona Western, 2-1.
Mesa fell behind 2-0, with that lead staying long into the second half until Andres Elizalde knocked in a goal from the left side with just under eight minutes to go in the game.
But the Matadors kept the T-Birds at bay long enough as Mesa fell, 2-1. This was Mesa's first loss of the season, bringing their record to 1-1 on the season.
Mesa will play home against Yavapai College Saturday night at 8 p.m.
