Men's soccer rallies for 3-2 win over GateWay

  MESA, AZ - Down 2-0 midway through the first half the Mesa men's soccer team ripped off three goals in less than six minutes and then held on for a 3-2 win over GateWay Saturday night at John D. Riggs Stadium.

  The win improves the T-Birds to 8-6 on the year while GWCC falls to 1-13.

  The Geckos got goals from Lorenzo Davalos Meraz in the 21st minute and Carlos Lopez in the 32nd.

  It was then that MCC began to take control.

  Julian Galvan (So., Mesa, AZ/Westwood H.S,) got Mesa on the board first in the 40th minute with his second goal of the year. The assist came from Brian Perea (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mesa H.S.).

  Less than two minutes later Max Schmidt (Fr., Cancun, Mexico/Corona del Sol (AZ) H.S.) tied it with his first goal of the year. Mikey Aguirre (So., Chandler, AZ/Perry H.S.) assisted.

  Ignacio Rios (So., Mesa, AZ/Dobson H.S.) put MCC ahead to stay seconds before halftime with his second score of the year. Perea assistied again.

  The T-Birfds remain at home Tuesday hosting Scottsdale at 8:00 p.m.
