Becerra named ACCAC Goalkeeper of the Week

  MESA, AZ - In what was a big week for Mesa men's soccer, Carlos Becerra (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Skyline H.S.) was named ACCAC Goalkeeper of the Week.

  As the T-Birds picked up two wins, including a 1-0 blanking of ninth-ranked Phoenix and a 4-1 victory over GateWay, Becerra played a total of 250 minutes while allowing just two goals and making 15 saves.

  MCC actually played a third contest during the week, at Scottsdale. Leading 2-1, the game was halted second 20 seconds before it would have been ruled an official game, because of lightning. All three games were played on the road.

  Even, so, Mesa has gotten off to a 4-1 start. It will host nationally-ranked, and unbeaten, Glendale Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at John D. Riggs Stadium..
