Middlemiss, men's golf, both second after day one of regionals
Gold Canyon, AZ – The Mesa men's golf team, led by Drew Middlemiss' one-under-par 69, stood in second place after the first day of play at the Region I, Division II men's golf championship Thursday.
The T-Birds fired a team total 289 to trail South Mountain by ten shots. Scottsdale is seven shots further back in third place.
Middlemiss picked a perfect time for his first sub-70 round of the year and paced three MCC players among the top six in the event being played at the Gold Canyon G.C. Sidewinder Course. He is tied for second place individually.
Bosse Lennsen carded an even-par 70 to stand tied for fourth place while Logan Eatherton is in sixth place after a one-over 70.
The tournament continues through Sunday.
