Men's golf tied for regional lead at midway point
Gold Canyon, AZ – Mesa and South Mountain swapped scores from the first day of play at the Region I, Division II men's golf championship and found themselves tied at the midway point.
The T-Birds recorded a 286 on day two, the exact score the Cougars posted on the first day of play, and SMCC shot a 287 Friday to leave both teams at 573, a comfortable 42 shots clear of third place Chandler-Gilbert at 615. The tournament is being played over the Sidewinder Course at the Gold Canyon G.C.
Austin Hardman is tied for the 36-hole lead with a one-over 141. Jake Guess is one shot back at 142 with Ryan Porter sixth with a 146 total and Brad Pottle seventh at 149. Zane Smith is another shot back having carded a 149.
Third round play is Saturday.
