Rebound Round puts men's golf in second place at regionals; Harpe leads by 11

  Gold Canyon, AZ – Bouncing back from a tough round on a windy day at the Gold Canyon G.C., Friday, the Mesa men's golf team posted a solid 298 Saturday, but will enter Sunday's final round seven shots behind South Mountain.

  Dean Harpe fired an even-par 70 extend his individual  lead to 11 shots pacing MCC's day. The T-Birds sit at 914, trailing South Mountain which has a 907 total.

  Harpe has a 54-hole total of 216 is well clear of second place Fillip Lundell, of South Mountain who is at 227.

  Gage Grimes moved into a tie for third place with a 77-229, while Jake Guess is ninth at 75-232. Jeff Kelley moved into 16th place with a 76-240 and Brad Pottle is tied for 17th at 79-241.

  The tournament champion will receive a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Championships to be held May 23-26 at the Longbow G.C. in Mesa. As one of the host institutions MCC will also receive a spot.
