Harpe medalist as men's golf wins Paradise Valley Invitational

  Scottsdale, AZ – Dean Harpe fired a six-under-par 66 Tuesday to lead the Mesa men's golf team to a strong second day and a victory at the Paradise Valley Invitational. The tournament was held at the Gainey Ranch, G.C.

  Harpe won medal honors by four shots with a strong 70-66—136 total for 36 holes. He was backed up well by Gage Grimes who closed in a tie for second place at four-under 71-69—140.

  MCC won by six shots over Eastern Arizona with a steady, 283-282—565. EAC, which was tied with Mesa after the first round, carded a 283-288—571. South Mountain was third at 286-291—577.

  For the T-Birds, Brad Pottle placed eighth with an even-par 72-72—144 and Jeff Kelley tied for ninth at 70-75—145.

  MCC now prepares for the Region I Championship which will be held May 27-30 at the Gold Canyon G.C. Sidewinder Course April 27-30. That will determine the regions qualifier for the NJCAA National Championship which will be held locally at the Longbow G.C. in Mesa, May 23-26. The T-Birds have an automatic spot in the field as one of the host institutions.
