Rough third round leaves men's golf 16 down heading into Region I final 18

  GOLD CANYON, AZ - After two solid rounds the Mesa men's golf team found things rougher on day three at the Region I championship and was 16 shots down entering the final day of play at the Gold Canyon G.C. Sidewinder course.

  MCC posted a 294, but South Mountain shot a second-straight 279 for a 54-hole 845 to 861 for the T-Birds.

  Mesa posted two 73s and three 74s on the day with Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (AZ) H.S.) and Brandon Carlson (So., Gilbert, AZ/Perry H.S.) had the 73s for MCC.

  The tournament concludes Sunday with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
