Men's golf second at Estrella Mountain Invitational after first day

First round scores

  LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ - The Mesa men's golf team was in second place, five shots off the lead, after the first day of play at the Estrella Mountain Invitational, being played at the Wigwam G.C.

  MCC shot a one-under-par 287, but trailed South Mountain.

  Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (A) H.S.) was one of three players tied for the individual lead with three-under 69s.

  T.J. Kathrineberg (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge H.S.) was tied for fourth at 71 and Bryce Melville (Fr., Morinville, Alberta/Sturgeon H.S.) was tied for seventh, carding a 72.

  The tournament concludes Wednesday.
