Men's golf takes three-shot lead after second day of Ron Marshall Spring Fling

  SCOTTSBORO, Ala - The Mesa men's golf team has taken a three-shot lead after the second of three days of play at the Ron Marshall Spring Fling, a tournament featuring 21 of the top teams in the nation at the site of May's NJCAA Division II national championship. It is being played at the Goose Pond Colony G.C.

  MCC shot a 293, the best round of the second day, and has a 295-293--588 total, three shots ahead of Darton (Ala.) and Mississippi Gulf Coast.

  Mesa's Bryce Melville (Fr., Moninville, Alberta/Sturgeon H.S.) is the individual leader with a one-under 71-72--143. He is the only player under par. Zach Jewell, of Illinois Central, and Clayton Keck, of Tyler (Texas) are at even par.

  Alex Lobeck (So., Mandan, ND/Perry (AZ) H.S.) is tied for tenth at 73-73--146. Jerrod Alleman (So., Chandler, AZ/Perry H.S.)  and Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) are tied for 18th with 149s, Allelman, however, is playing as an individual and not counting in Mesa's team score.

  The event wraps up Saturday.
