Alleman leads men's golf to victory at Thunderbird Challenge
GOLD CANYON, AZ - Jerod Alleman (So., Chandler, AZ/Perry H.S.) fired a 69 over the Gold Canyon G.C. Sidewinder Course to lead the Mesa men's golf team to victory in the Thunderbird Challenge Monday.
The T-Birds split into two groups and sandwiched the new Benedictine College team that featured several former MCC players. Mesa's White team shot a 299, Benedictine was at 304 and Mesa Red 307.
"I think Jerod played some great golf this fall," said head coach John Guerrero. "He also shot 65 and medaled in one of our scrimmages this fall. Hopefully he'll continue to click during conference play next February."
Just behind Allman on the White team were Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (AZ) H.S.) with a 72 and Alex Lobeck (So., Mandan, ND/Perry (AZ) H.S) at 77.
Former T-Bird Ryan Witte paced Benedictine with a 71. Ben Potter was at 74 and Justin Hyden 75.
Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) led Mesa Red with a 75 followed by Dayton Federly (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn/Osseo H.S.).
The event concluded Mesa's Fall season.
