Men's golf still tied at 595 on second day of NJCAA nationals

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Mesa men's golf team carded a score of 297 on day two of the NJCAA Division II national tournament Wednesday. The T-Birds sit in second place with Owens CC at a team score of 595. Walters State leads with 298 at 17-over 593.

Ryan Witte (So., Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) posted a 75 with a total score of 145, tied for third in the individual standings. Witte stands four strokes back from Mineral Area's Tanner McKinney (70-71). Both Benjamin Potter (So., Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe) and Jacob Montplaiser (So., Gilbert, Ariz./Dobson) shot 74 while Austin Fletcher (Fr., Memphis, Tenn./Mountain Pointe) carded a 76. Justin Hyden (So., Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe) recorded a 74 as well.

"We are looking forward to the challenge," head coach John Guerrero said.

MCC will begin play at 12:33 p.m Thursday on the Black Course at Swan Lake Resort.
