(RV) Coyotes Slip Past Thunderbirds 77-69

Chandler, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds lost a close contest at Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday afternoon, by a final of 77-69.

With the loss, Mesa drops their third straight game and falls to 4-12 overall and 2-9 in ACCAC action. With the victory, Chandler-Gilbert; who is currently receiving votes in the latest NJCAA DII Men's Basketball National Poll, improve to 16-7 overall and 7-6 in ACCAC conference action.

Saturday's contest was a tale of two halves between the Coyotes and the Thunderbirds. In the first half, CGCC used the home crowd to their advantage, taking a comfortable 42-28 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Mesa's offense came alive and attacked for 41 points. The T-Birds hung around until the very end but fell by eight to the Coyotes.

In the loss, Mesa shot an impressive 50% from the field. Two players scored in double-figures for Mesa, led by BJ Burries' 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Burries also added two rebounds and one assist. Quincy Reece chimed in with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.

The Thunderbirds will remain on the road, as they travel south to Yuma to face the Arizona Western College Matadors on Wednesday evening. Tip time is slated for 7:30 pm.
