Matadors Use Last Second Free-Throws to Sink Mesa, 76-75 Final

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds lost to the Arizona Western Matadors, 76-75, at Theo Heap Gym Saturday afternoon.

With 15:25 to play in the first half, Mesa took a 13-12 advantage.  An advantage they would hold until their was 18 seconds left in the game.  That's when the Matadors stepped to the line, made two free-throws and went ahead for good, 76-75.  

A game winning attempt by Mesa's, Amaury Matthews, did not fall and the T-Birds dropped its first conference game of the year.

Mesa moves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.  The T-Birds will travel to Douglas, AZ next Wednesday for a matchup with Cochise at 7:30 pm.
