Thunderbirds Survive Late Coyote Push, Win 62-55

Gilbert, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds survived a second half comeback by the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes to win a close ballgame, 62-55.

The T-Birds continued its hot shooting from Scottsdale this past Wednesday night as they jumped out to a quick double-digit lead and took a 13 point advantage into the halftime break.

Chandler-Gilbert used the long ball in the second half while Mesa cooled off as the Coyotes cut Mesa's lead at one point to one.  The T-Birds however executed late and came home with the win.

Each scoring 12 points for Mesa was Rahjan Billingsley and Kyle Fischer while Jeff Perez knocked down three long balls for nine points.  Nik Nehls finished with 10 points while also pulling down eight rebounds. 

With the victory, Mesa moves to 10-11 in conference with one last game to play against the South Mountain Cougars next Tuesday at home at 7:30 pm.  By the end of the night Tuesday, playoff spots will be solidified.
